SAILING IN ASIA
We left Australia on July 22, 2007, and entered a new world for us – Asia. We crossed the Torres Straits on the periphery of the Darwin-to-Kupang 2007 rally, and we made our first landfall at Timor, Indonesia. We spent three months sailing within Indonesia then sailed to Singapore.
Most of our sailing within Indonesia is described along with destinations notes. You can start at our Indonesia page or our first Indonesian destination – Timor. Our last destination in Indonesia was Kalimantan, then we described our sail north toward Singapore separately.
We left Indonesia and sailed across the Singapore Strait to Singapore. We spent a few weeks in Singapore then headed north through Malaysia and on in to Thailand. We sailed out to India’s Andaman Islands and back from Thailand. When we left Asia, we headed west in to the Indian Ocean with plans to go up the Red Sea into the Mediterranean.
