This website tells stories of places we have been and people we have met. However, it is also a tribute to our boat. We cannot imagine this experience on a boat other than Passage. She was game when we were not. She was strong when we were weak. She kept on going when we doubted our ability to do so. She is a remarkable boat.

We bought Passage in 1998 with plans of going cruising in the near future. She was in good condition, and all she needed was “just a little paint and varnish”. We proceeded to rebuild every inch of her. No structure or system went untouched. The result is a truly beautiful boat that sails even better than she looks.

Welcome Aboard

We were extremely happy with Passage, and we were proud of the work we did on her.  Here are some pictures of what she looks like.

Come aboard and have a look around.

Haulout from Hell

Some who have seen our work on Passage have said that we rebuilt her ‘from the inside out’.  Unfortunately, in 2004, we did a haulout in which we essentially rebuilt her hull below the water ‘from the outside in’.

  • Peter & Nell – Passage’s new owners on their first sail

    New Owners

In 2016, exactly one year after completing our circumnavigation, we sold Passage.  She is a fine cruising boat, and we did not want her to sit idle in a marina.  We wanted her to get out again and do what she does best – sail.

We sold her to a couple on Oahu with plans to go cruising and probably circumnavigate.  They were the first people to look at her, and they were immediately smitten.  We hope she will be loved by them as much as we loved her.
